WashCheck — Privacy Policy

This Privacy Policy describes how WashCheck ("we", "us", "our") handles information when you use our iOS app (the "Service"). By using WashCheck you agree to this Policy.

1. Who we are

WashCheck is operated by Vahan Grigoryan, contactable at [email protected].

2. Information we collect

WashCheck has no accounts, no sign-up and no server of our own. We do not operate a backend, we do not store your data, and there is no profile associated with you.

The app uses one category of information:

  • Precise location. When you tap "Check Now", the app reads your device's coordinates (with your permission, "While Using the App") in order to look up the weather where you are and to find car washes nearby. The coordinates are used for that request and then discarded. They are never written to our storage, because we have none.

The app also saves your chosen interface language (English, Armenian or Russian) on your own device, using Apple's standard preferences storage. This never leaves your phone.

Third-party tracking SDKs: none. The app contains no analytics, advertising, attribution or crash-reporting SDK of any kind — grep-verified against the app source.

3. How we use information

Your coordinates are used for exactly two things, both of them at your request and in real time:

  1. To fetch the rain forecast for your area.
  2. To search for car washes near you.

We do not use your information for advertising, we do not build a profile of you, and we do not sell your information.

4. How we share information

Because we have no server, your coordinates go directly from your device to two services:

  • Open-Meteo (open-meteo.com) — receives your latitude and longitude to return the local 14-day forecast. The request carries no account, no API key and no identifier of any kind.
  • Apple — receives your coordinates through Apple's own on-device Maps search (MKLocalSearch) in order to return nearby car washes, and separately handles app distribution. Apple's handling of that data is governed by Apple's privacy policy.

We do not sell data to data brokers and we do not share it for third-party advertising.

5. Subscriptions

WashCheck is free. There are no subscriptions, no in-app purchases and no payment processing of any kind.

6. Data retention

We retain nothing, because we store nothing. There is no account to keep and no database holding your information. Your coordinates exist only for the duration of the forecast request. The only data that persists is your language preference, which lives on your device and is removed when you delete the app.

7. Your choices and rights

  • Location. You can revoke location access at any time in iOS Settings → Privacy & Security → Location Services → WashCheck. The app will keep working, but it cannot produce a verdict or find nearby washes without it.
  • Deleting your data. Deleting the app removes everything WashCheck has kept, since all of it lives on your device. There is no account to close and no server-side data to erase.
  • Depending on where you live, you may have additional rights under laws such as the GDPR or CCPA. Contact us at [email protected] to exercise them.

8. Children's privacy

WashCheck is not directed to children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from them.

9. Security

Requests to Open-Meteo and Apple are made over HTTPS. Because we hold no data of yours on any server, there is no store of personal information for anyone to breach.

10. Changes to this Policy

We may update this Policy from time to time. Material changes will be reflected by the "Last updated" date above and, where appropriate, in-app.
