Skinly — Privacy Policy

Effective date: August 19, 2026 Last updated: August 19, 2026

This Privacy Policy describes how Skinly ("we", "us", "our") collects, uses, and shares information when you use our iOS app and related services (collectively, the "Service"). By using Skinly you agree to this Policy.

1. Who we are

Skinly is operated by Vahan Grigoryan, contactable at [email protected].

2. Information we collect

We collect only what we need to operate the Service.

Account information (if you create an account):

  • Email address and a hashed password (we never store passwords in plain text)

You can also use Skinly as a guest, without creating an account. Guest use still requires the daily-scan processing described below, but no email address is collected.

Skin profile (what you tell us so recommendations fit you):

  • Skin type and concerns
  • An optional ingredient/product avoid-list

Photos you take (the core of the Service):

  • Daily scan photos — a face photo you capture each day. Before upload, an on-device guide (which never leaves your device and makes no network call) checks framing and stillness. The photo is then uploaded and analyzed by our backend AI to produce a skin score, four sub-readings, and plain-language observations. Below a confidence threshold, no score is generated at all.
  • Shelf photos — product photos you associate with items on your shelf, used to show a correlational read between your logged products and your score history over time.

All photos are linked to your account (or, in guest mode, to your device session), used solely to produce your own private results, and are never shared with other users, never used for advertising, and never used to train third-party models. Our AI processing runs on our backend infrastructure, which may use vetted AI providers to analyze photos on our behalf; they process your data only to return the requested analysis.

Purchase information (if you subscribe to Skinly Pro):

  • Your subscription status and purchase history, processed by Apple and our subscription-management provider (RevenueCat). We do not receive or store your payment card details — all payments are handled by Apple.

Technical information (collected automatically):

  • App version, iOS version, device model
  • Limited diagnostic logs (e.g. error events)

We do not collect your contacts, location, or browsing history. Skinly has no advertising or analytics SDK — we don't track you across apps or websites, and we don't build an advertising profile.

3. How we use information

We use the information to:

  • Provide the Service (produce your daily skin score, sub-readings, and observations; recommend products against your avoid-list; track your shelf and score history)
  • Ground recommendations in your own skin profile
  • Run the optional 30-Day Glow Challenge from your own scan history
  • Process your subscription and unlock Skinly Pro features
  • Maintain, secure, and improve the Service
  • Provide customer support
  • Comply with legal obligations

We do not use your information for advertising, and we do not sell your information.

4. How we share information

We share information only with service providers that help us run the Service, and only as needed:

  • Apple — app distribution, Sign in with Apple, and payment processing for subscriptions
  • RevenueCat — subscription management and receipt validation
  • Cloudflare — secure storage for uploaded photos, plus security and content delivery

Product recommendations reference a curated skincare catalogue built from openly-licensed product data (Open Beauty Facts, under the ODbL). "Buy" links take you to a retailer's own site to search for that product — we do not send your personal information to retailers, and these links carry no affiliate or tracking parameters.

These providers process data on our behalf under their own terms. We do not sell data to data brokers and we do not share it for third-party advertising.

5. Data retention

We keep your information for as long as your account is active. You can delete individual scan or shelf photos at any time in the app. To close your account and delete your associated personal data, contact us at [email protected]; we will confirm once it's done, except where we are required to retain certain records to comply with legal obligations.

6. Your choices and rights

  • Access / correction / deletion: Delete individual photos directly in the app at any time. To delete your entire account and associated data, contact us at [email protected].
  • Skin profile: Edit your skin type, concerns, and avoid-list in the app at any time.
  • Sign in with Apple: If you choose this option, we receive the identifier Apple provides and, if you share it, your email address (or Apple's private relay address).

Depending on where you live, you may have additional rights under laws such as the GDPR or CCPA. Contact us to exercise them.

7. Medical disclaimer

Skinly's scores and observations are generated by automated analysis of your photo. They are descriptive, cosmetic-language feedback only — never a diagnosis, a treatment recommendation, or a medical claim, and not a substitute for advice from a dermatologist or other qualified professional.

8. Children's privacy

Skinly is not directed to children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from them.

9. Security

We protect your information with industry-standard measures, including encryption in transit (HTTPS), hashed passwords, and secure token storage on your device. No method of transmission or storage is 100% secure, but we work to protect your data.

10. Changes to this Policy

We may update this Policy from time to time. Material changes will be reflected by the "Last updated" date above and, where appropriate, in-app.
