VocalArc — Privacy Policy
Effective date: August 25, 2026 Last updated: August 25, 2026
This Privacy Policy describes how VocalArc ("we", "us", "our") collects, uses, and shares information when you use our iOS app and related services (collectively, the "Service"). By using VocalArc you agree to this Policy.
1. Who we are
VocalArc is operated by Vahan Grigoryan, contactable at [email protected].
2. Privacy at a glance
VocalArc is on-device and offline-first. You can use the entire core app as a guest, with no account and no internet connection. Your singing is analyzed on your device in real time — your microphone audio is never recorded, stored, or uploaded to our servers. We only collect personal data if you choose to create an optional account to sync your progress.
3. Information we collect
We collect only what we need to operate the Service.
Microphone audio (when you practice):
- VocalArc listens to your voice to detect pitch on your device, in real time.
- Your audio is never recorded, saved, or transmitted off the device. We do not receive it, store it, or use it for any purpose beyond live, on-device feedback while you sing.
On-device app data (guest use):
- Your voice profile, exercise results, scores, XP, levels, streaks, goal songs, and settings are stored locally on your device. If you never sign in, this data never leaves your device.
Account information (only if you create an optional account):
- Email address
- A password, which is transmitted securely and stored only in hashed form on our servers (we never store passwords in plain text)
- A display name and avatar, if you choose to set them. Both are visible only to you — see "Community data" below.
Sign in with Apple / Sign in with Google (only if you use them):
- We receive the identifier the provider issues for you and, where you allow it, your email address. We use these only to create and recognise your account. We never receive your provider password, and we do not read your contacts, calendar, files, or anything else from your Apple or Google account.
- If you use Apple's "Hide My Email", we only ever see the relay address.
Synced training data (only when you are signed in and online):
- Your progress, exercise results, voice profile, and goal songs are synced to our servers so you can access them across devices.
Community data (only if you opt in to the leaderboard):
- Taking part in the community challenge is opt-in. If you opt in, we store how many exercises you have finished.
- The leaderboard never shows your name. Everyone appears under an automatically generated nickname such as "Singer 4821", derived from your account id. Your display name stays private to your own profile and is never shown to anyone else. There is no way for another person to see anything you typed.
Purchase information (if you subscribe):
- Subscription status (active / canceled / expired) provided by Apple through StoreKit when you purchase VocalArc Premium.
- We do not receive or store your payment card details. All payments are handled by Apple.
We do not collect your contacts, location, photos, browsing history, or health data. VocalArc contains no advertising, analytics, or tracking SDKs.
4. How we use information
We use the information to:
- Provide the Service (analyze pitch on-device, track your progress, and — if you sign in — sync it across your devices)
- Operate the optional community leaderboard if you opt in
- Understand, in aggregate, which parts of the app work and which lose people
- Maintain, secure, and improve the Service
- Provide customer support
- Comply with legal obligations
We do not use your information for advertising, and we do not sell your information.
5. How we share information
We share information only with service providers that help us run the Service, and only as needed:
- Apple — app distribution, Sign in with Apple, and in-app purchases (StoreKit)
- Google — Sign in with Google, only if you choose it
- Resend — transactional email (e.g. account verification, password reset), only if you create an account
- Cloudflare — security and content delivery
These providers process data on our behalf under their own terms. We do not sell data to data brokers and we do not share it for third-party advertising.
6. Data retention
If you use VocalArc as a guest, your data stays on your device and is removed when you delete the app. If you create an account, we keep your information for as long as your account is active. When you delete your account, we delete your associated personal data, except where we are required to retain certain records to comply with legal obligations.
7. Your choices and rights
- Guest use: Use the full core app with no account and no data leaving your device.
- Access / correction / deletion: If you created an account, you can edit your profile and delete your account and its synced data from inside the app (Settings → Profile and account → Delete account), or contact us at [email protected].
- Leaderboard: Participation is opt-in; you can opt out at any time in the app.
- Microphone: You control microphone access in iOS Settings → Privacy → Microphone. VocalArc needs it to detect pitch while you sing.
- Purchases: Handled by Apple. Because the unlock is a one-time purchase, there is nothing to cancel, and you can restore it on a new device from the unlock screen.
- Analytics: The events listed above are the complete set. If you would rather we held none of it, write to us and we will delete what is associated with your account.
Depending on where you live, you may have additional rights under laws such as the GDPR or CCPA. Contact us to exercise them.
8. Children's privacy
VocalArc is not directed to children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from them.
9. Security
We protect your information with industry-standard measures, including encryption in transit (HTTPS) and hashed passwords. No method of transmission or storage is 100% secure, but we work to protect your data.
10. Changes to this Policy
We may update this Policy from time to time. Material changes will be reflected by the "Last updated" date above and, where appropriate, in-app.
